How much tea do I use per cup?

All of our teas (and most other teas) use a ratio of 1tsp of loose leaf per 8oz cup OR 1tbsp per 24oz teapot.

How do I store my tea?

Always store loose leaf tea in an airtight container. NEVER store tea in the refridgerator or freezer. Don’t let any moisture in your loose leaf tea or it will be prone to mold.

How hot should my water be?

For the ultimate tea enthusiest brewing tea, each type of tea prefers a different temperature. However, as a general rule, you can brew all of our teas at just under boiling. Boil your water, turn it off and let it sit for a few seconds, and then you can add it to your tea!

White tea: 155 degrees fahrenheit 

Green tea: 175 degrees fahrenheit 

Oolong tea: 195 degrees fahrenheit  

Black tea: 195 degrees fahrenheit 

Herbal: 195 degrees Fahrenheit 

What do I steep my tea in?

We recommend using a metal fine mesh strainer to steep your tea in. If you don’t have a strainer, you can purchase one from us.

We don’t recommend using tea bags, however they work in a pinch. If you use a tea bag, you will need to add 1 minute to your tea steeping time.

What is the shelf life of my tea?

Generally, loose leaf tea can be stored in an airtight container for up to two years. But who can wait that long? 😉

Tea Tips

Resteeping tea

You can resteep some types of tea if you would like to reuse your leaves. Green teas are the best type of tea for resteeping. You can also resteep black teas, but use half the amount of water to the same amount of tea. We do not recommend resteeping white teas. 

Iced tea

Any tea can be iced. The easiest way to ice tea is this:

1: Sweeten your cup/pot before brewing tea.

2. Brew tea as normal, using the same recommended measurements.

3. Put your cup/pot of tea in the fridge overnight. Enjoy the next day!

*Bonus: If you don’t want diluted iced tea, make iced tea cubes! Pour tea into ice cube trays and freeze.

Sweetening tea

We always recommend sweetening your cup/pot before brewing your tea. We recommend using raw, organic sugar to enhance the flavors in your tea. You can also use brown sugar to sweeten your tea. Our favorite teas to sweeten with brown sugar are our Sparkling Cherry and our Ivy Earl Grey teas!
